Fraudulent email in the name of the CCB

Emails are currently circulating in the name of the CCB (Centre for Cyber Security Belgium).

This email informs you that your network is supposedly being monitored by cybercriminals.

The hackers could take control of your personal data and download malware.

The scammers ask you to click on a link to activate security software. Whatever you do, don't click on it, it's a phishing email.

What should you look out for?

· The message emphasises the urgency. You are advised to activate the software quickly, otherwise you will lose control of your devices.

· Check the links before clicking. Learn how to detect suspicious links via the e-learning course Surf without worries.

· Check the sender's email address. You will see that it is not the CCB's email address at all.

· The scammers use the CCB logo but the email is signed by the Australian Cyber Security Centre.

· Be careful because the email is addressed to you personally.
