An email from Belfius asking you to check your messages. Beware of phishing!

Emails that appear to come from Belfius are currently circulating and targeting Belfius customers.

This email asks you to check your messages by clicking on a link. Do not do this, as it is a phishing email designed to collect your personal data.

What should you look out for?

  • The message emphasises urgency. A deadline for viewing the message is mentioned.
  • Check the sender's email address. You will see that it is not an official email address.
  • The email is not addressed to you personally.
  • Hover your mouse over the link and you will see that it is not the official Belfius address but a suspicious link.

  • Do not click on a link in a suspicious message, do not open attachments and do not download applications when prompted to do so.
  • Suspicious emails can be forwarded to suspect@safeonweb.be.

Have you clicked on a suspicious link?

  • If you have clicked, do not fill in the fields and abandon any interaction.
  • NEVER give out personal codes.
  • If you have sent a password that you also use elsewhere, change it immediately.

Have you been the victim of a scam?

  • If you have lost money or have been the victim of extortion, we advise you to make a statement to the police. You can report it to the local police in your place of residence.
  • Contact your bank and/or Card Stop on 078 170 170 if you have passed on any bank details, if money disappears from your bank account or if you have transferred money to a fraudster. This way, any fraudulent transactions can be blocked.
