Protect your online accounts

Have you received a request to reset your password when you didn't ask for it?

Simply ignore the message and do not click on the link. Your data could be used by malicious individuals.

Tips for keeping your online accounts secure:

  1. Enable two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a simple solution to better protect your accounts. With two-factor authentication, you can prevent unauthorised individuals from accessing your account, even if they know your password. Use two-factor authentication wherever you can. It's simple and secure.

How to enable 2FA?

  1. Be wary of unsolicited requests. If you haven't requested anything, consider the message suspicious.
  2. Do not click on a link in a suspicious email.

If you are unsure, check where the link leads:

  • on a computer: hover over the link with the mouse (without clicking)
  • on a smartphone: press and hold (without opening)

  1. Always check the sender's email address (not just the name). A name can be imitated. If the email address does not match the supposed sender or seems suspicious, be wary.
  2. Never react in a hurry, take the time to analyse the request and check the official website

Report the message: you will also be protecting others

Forward suspicious emails to suspicious@safeonweb.be. Safeonweb analyses links and attachments using an automated process. The next time someone tries to visit that website, they will see a warning page.

Have you entered your password?

  1. Change your password immediately on the platform's official website.
  2. Also change the password for any other accounts where you used the same password.
  3. Enable two-factor authentication as soon as possible.
