The FSMA has learned that fraudsters who put themselves forward as employees of the FSMA are contacting victims of investment fraud, promising that they can recover the money they lost. They ask the consumers to pay a fee for this purpose. This is known as recovery room fraud. They try to extort money or information from their victims.
The fraudsters send letters to this effect to their potential victims:
Fraudsters use the following e-mail addresses in particular: no-replyfsma@outlook.com, ldavis@finglobalsolution.com and recovery@tfsma.com. Emails from these addresses do not originate from FSMA and should be considered fraudulent.
What should I do in this case?
If you receive a message from such an address, do not react to it and delete the e-mail.
Be very careful when you receive unsolicited calls and do not respond to requests to transfer money in return for services and/or financial products allegedly offered by FSMA.
If you have the least doubt, please do not hesitate to contact the FSMA directly via the consumer contact form.
