It can happen to anyone: you lost your smartphone or your tablet, or your device was stolen. Was it sufficiently secure? Or are your device and personal data now in the hands of its new 'owner'?
I lost my device! What should I do?
- Immediately change all your passwords of the accounts on your device (e.g. e-mail, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.) and set up a unique password for each account. Choose strong and secure passwords.
- If your bank or payment details are on the stolen device, notify your bank and keep an eye on your accounts. If necessary, have your bank cards and accounts blocked via Cardstop or 078 170 170 (+32 78 170 170 from abroad).
- If your device contained data relating to your professional life, inform your employer as soon as possible.
- If your device was stolen, report it to the police.
A tip
Always set up the screen lock feature with a 6-digit code, at least, on your device or use the biometric fingerprint locking feature. We do not recommend using a pattern since the pattern often remains visible on your screen.
