Test yourself: can you spot content manipulated by AI?

Artificial intelligence is now becoming a fixture in many aspects of our daily lives. But it is also increasingly being used for malicious purposes. Among the most worrying techniques are deepfakes: AI-generated images, videos or audio recordings capable of imitating a real person with striking realism.

Misleading content used for fraud

This falsified content is used in attempts at online fraud or disinformation. A fake voice message appearing to come from a loved one, a doctored video of a public figure, or a manipulated image shared widely on social media: these are all scenarios that can mislead people and prompt them to act without checking.

In a digital environment where information circulates very quickly, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fiction.

Test yourself to stay safer

VRT and RTBF each offer a test to help you check whether you can tell fake news from the real thing. These tools clearly demonstrate just how difficult it is becoming to spot deepfakes.

Keeping a critical eye and taking the time to check information remain essential to minimising the risks.

Take the test and share it with your family and friends.
