Are you still using Windows 7, just like 1 in 5 Belgians? It’s high time you changed this. Windows 7 is already 10 years old and has not been updated automatically for some time. In exactly 1 year, on 13 January 2020, all extended support for Windows 7 will also stop. This means that new security updates will no longer be provided. Computers still running on Windows 7 at that time will be particularly vulnerable to cyberattacks. It looks as if hackers will then have free rein on PCs still using Windows 7.
How do I know which version of Windows I am using?
Click the Windows icon on the left of the bottom taskbar. Type winver and click Enter. The specifications of your Windows version will then be displayed in a window.
What must I do if I am still using Windows 7?
Windows 10 is safer thanks to Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. Furthermore, Windows 10 automatically performs updates on your computer. So, upgrade as quickly as possible to the much safer Windows 10. You can purchase Windows 10 on the Microsoft website.
If your computer has become old and slow, a new computer with Windows 10 installed as standard is also an option.
